Meeting Minutes

6:60pm - Meeting Called to order by Deane Logan
Deane congratulated Mike and Luna on their success at the Oregon State Fair Amateur Wine competition, including a blue ribbon for a 2006 Viognier and a red ribbon for a 2006 Pinot Noir. Also congratulatios to Terry Plagmann who recieved a white ribbon for his 2006 viognier. Luna encouraged everyone to enter wines to, not only the state fair, but also the Washington County Fair and the Newport Seafood and Wine Festival in February.
Business meeting:
1) Dues have been increased from $20 to $25 a year. The year begins in September so at the conclusion of this meeting, everyone's dues are now...due.
2) Treasurers report: Currently there is $88.77 in the account. A recent reimbursement was made to Deane Logan for expenses incurred by him
3) The minutes for the last meeting were accepted, without amendment, by voice vote.
4) Starting September the Club will be holding a "Wine of the Month" event. Four members will each bring a commercial wine, of a single varietal or type, to be tasted blind. Members may taste and vote on what they think is the best wine. For the September meeting, the four members bringing wine include: Jack and Cheryl Lentch; Bob Page; Roger Wagner; and Susan Kaid& Ed Farrar. The featured wine will be a northwest Cabernet Sauvignon.
5) Officers for 2007-2008 were nominated, including;
President - Chris Coon
Vice President - Terry Plagmann
Treasurer - Roger Wagner
Secretary - Mike Hauser
A motion was made to accept these nominees, seconded, and passed in a voice vote.
Speaker: Jack Lench presented information on vineyard practices.
Dean Logan mentioned that he has a lot of yeast available for those who may need it.
Bill Brown notified members that a friend of his has 20-25 carboys for sale. Asking price is $12-$15 each. Contact Bill for more information. 7:19pm - Meeting adjoirned. |
